Obituary

Irma F. Shoemaker, 91, of Glenmoore, PA, passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Heatherwood Retirement Community. The daughter of the late Arthur and Fannie Fisher (Wise) and the loving wife of 53 years to the late Robert G. Shoemaker of Glenmoore, PA.
She was a 1946 graduate of Downingtown High School. After graduating from high school, she worked at Pickering Valley Elementary School in Eagle, PA as a secretary for many years. She then spent many years as a librarian’s aide at East Ward Elementary School in Downingtown, PA. She clearly enjoyed working with children and she was also a great homemaker to her 2 sons and late husband.
Irma was a lifetime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church in Glenmoore, PA. She sang in their choir as long as she could. She also enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, swimming, and spending time with her family. She was definitely loved everywhere she went, especially by all of her friends at Heatherwood Retirement Community that she made over the last several years.
Irma is survived by her two sons; Eric A. Shoemaker and Stephen R. Shoemaker (Pene), her sister Kathy (Kookie) Yannetti, along with her grandchildren Jill C. Shoemaker, Jacob E. Shoemaker, Darren R. Shoemaker, and Sophia R. Shoemaker. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Tanner R. Shoemaker, and Mya R. Shoemaker. Irma was predeceased by her late husband Robert G. Shoemaker, her brother Harold Fisher, and her great-granddaughter Sarah Bella Shoemaker.
A small graveside service will be held at Fairview Church Presbyterian Cemetery located at 800 Fairview Road in Glenmoore, PA at 12 noon on Saturday May 4th, 2019.
