Obituary

David G. Wilson, age 82, passed away on January 13, 2014 in Green Bay, WI. His life and legacy are a reflection of his spiritual commitment and the love and gentleness he graced those who crossed his path. His life goal was to serve God, love his family and to reflect the love of Christ through his actions and his priorities.

David was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 28, 1931 to George Yale Wilson and Marjorie Ada (Shingle) Wilson. David is preceded in death by his wife of over 47 years, Thelma Montgomery Wilson, his parents, his oldest brother, Delmar Yale Wilson, his older brother Eugene Howard Wilson, his sister-in-law, Helen "Hedy" Wilson and his nephew, Robert "Bob" Wilson. He is survived by his son David Marc Wilson, his wife Kathleen Fogleman Wilson and grandson Aidan Marc Wilson and his daughter, Georjeanna Wilson-Doenges, her husband Vernon Doenges and grandchildren Jordan and Julia Doenges; and an abundant gathering of family and friends, all of whom he loved and nurtured individually.

David's life was spent in Christian service and ministry in numerous ways. A multi-generational Presbyterian from birth, David was a vital member of First Presbyterian Church Green Bay for the past 15 years, singing in the choir, passionately helping those in need through the Presbyterian Pantry, teaching others in Bible study, and actively serving as a Stephen's Minister. Prior to that, he was an active leader at Cleveland Drive Presbyterian Church in Cheektowaga, NY, Southminster Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA and Riverside Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA.

In his professional life he was a hard-working and dedicated accountant, serving as Vice President at Furnco and TXRX in Buffalo, NY and as a Comptroller at General Refractories in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA. He was an avid gardener and had a great interest in the weather.

David loved well. He loved his wife and his children, their spouses and his grandchildren. He loved his extended family and his many, many friends. He expressed his love for humanity through his unwavering gentleness and attention to the needs of others. Most of all, he loved his God and Savior. The legacy of love that he leaves is a testament to his ebullient spirit, his gentleness and his love of God expressed through the love he emulated to each person who crossed his path.
