Ethel E. Griffin Whary, 84, of Glenmoore passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 1, 1934, in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Berkey) May. Ethel loved spending time with her family and always thought of others before she thought of herself. Ethel is survived by brother Vernon May Sr. of Glenmoore and sister Shirley Dunfee of Coatesville, two sons: Vernon (husband of Shelia) of Honey Brook and Craig Whary (Heather Trout) of Glenmoore, four daughters: Bonnie Slonaker of Birdsboro, Karen Peterson (wife of John), Doris Stacey (fiancé of Dale Pegler), Cheryl Pitch (wife of Darren Sr.) all of Honey Brook, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Vernon Griffin and longtime companion Lamar Whary, brothers Charles and Grover, sister Bertha Hamby and a twin sister at birth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 AM at Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W. Kings Hwy., Coatesville, Pa. followed by interment in Fairview Presbyterian Cemetery of Glenmoore. A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.
