Obituary

Dolores Kesel, of Media, passed away peacefully on July 1st, in the AlmaVia senior community in San Francisco, CA, where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was 84. Dolores was born to Jules and Lillian Press in Hammonton, NJ. Dolores earned an AA from Philadelphia College of the Bible (now Cairn University), obtained her BA from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and went on to be part of one of the early classes of women at Princeton Theological Seminary, where she obtained her Masters of Religious Education [in 1956]. She married the Reverend Robert G. Kesel in 1961, who was serving as Pastor of the Cedar Park Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Bob and Dolores had three sons, Robby (who died in infancy), William and Stephen. The Kesels moved to Media in 1970, where Bob and Dolores served the congregation together until 1993. Bob then retired to Downingtown, PA, where the couple was active at Fairview Presbyterian Church until Bob passed in 2009.

Dolores will be remembered as a faithful servant to the congregation of Media Presbyterian, spending many tireless hours as a Bible teacher; as well as a devoted wife and mother.

Dolores is survived by her sister, Marion Fickenscher, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, son Bill of Roanoke, VA and son Stephen of San Francisco, CA.

Her funeral will be held at Fairview Presbyterian Church in Glenmoore, PA on Friday, July 11th, at 2:00 pm, preceded by a 1:00 pm visitation and viewing. Attendees will also be welcomed to a reception in the church hall, following the interment in the church cemetery
