George E. Harple, 79, of High Street, Pottstown, husband of Gertrude E. (Ropeter) Harple, died Thursday at Manor Care, Pottstown of Natural.

Born in Downingtown, Pa, he was a son of the late Bertha and George Harple.

He was a graduate of Coatsville area School District. Mr. Harple was employed by the N. Coventry Pizza Hut a maintenance man for several years. He had formerly been the sexton for New Hanover Lutheran Church, Gilbertsville. He attended First Baptist Church of Saint Peter's. He was a member of the Sanatoga Grange; and the Pottstown Area Seniors Center. Mr. Harple also attended the Old Fiddler's Picnic in West Chester until he became ill.

Surviving in addition to his wife is two sisters, Mary Mahalland, Brandamore; Frances Wiggins, Coatsville. He was predeceased by one brother, Harry Harple and one sister Florence Roth.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 800 Fairview Road, Glenmoore. Officiating will be Reverend Kenneth W. Webster. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.

Take Route 100 South to Route 401. Turn Right on Route 401 and follow to Fairview Road. Turn Left on Fairview Road. Church and cemetery are at 800 Fairview Road.
