Louise Lammey Makinson of Media, Pa. Louise L. Makinson, 96, formerly of Wilmington, Del. died on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. She was born in 1919 in Downingtown, Pa. to the late Estella and J. Horace Lammey. Louise graduated from Downingtown High School and West Chester State Teacher’s College (now West Chester University) and came to Delaware after her marriage in 1947. She taught elementary education for six years in Pennsylvania and 26 years in Mount Pleasant School District in Wilmington, Del. A member of Peninsula-McCabe United Methodist Church and former member of American Association of University Women, she became an active volunteer at Hagley Museum and Winterthur after retirement. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter R. Makinson, and niece, Maryalice Makinson Cregg. Louise is survived by her great niece, Joellen Cregg Standard of Crystal River, Fla. and great nephew, John Cregg, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army, based in Fort Benning, Ga. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, on Tuesday, September 29 at 12 noon, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Glenmoore, Pa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Makinson’s memory to Peninsula-McCabe Methodist Church, 2200 Baynard Blvd, Wilmington DE 19802 or to the Granite Farms Estates Community Enrichment Fund, 1343 W Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063.
