VERNA S. HARTENSTINE, 96, FORMER BOOKKEEPER
Verna S. Hartenstine, 96, formerly of Barneston Road, Honey Brook, widow of Thomas K. Hartenstine, died Tuesday, March 23, in the Meadows Health Care Center at the Tel Hai Retirement Community, where she had lived for the past five years. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Florence (Smale) Fisher. A 1924 graduate of Pottstown High School, Mrs. Hartenstine lived in Elverson from 1933 to 1997, when she moved to Honey Brook. Mrs. Hartenstine was a bookkeeper for the former VanBuskirk Hardware Store, Pottstown, and later worked as the bookkeeper for the former Thomas K. Hartenstine Lumber Company, Elverson. She was a member of Elverson United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Elverson Fire Company. Mrs. Hartenstine is survived by two daughters, Isabel L., wife of James C. Mosetter, of Philadelphia and Jane, wife of Charles F. Bernard, of Honey Brook; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Labs Funeral Home, 141 Pequea Avenue, Honey Brook. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Presbyterian Cemetery, Glenmoore, PA.
